Checklist Summary:

The IBM z/VM Using CA VM:Secure Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) is published as a tool to improve the security of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems. IBM z/VM provides a highly secure and scalable enterprise environment that efficiently runs multiple diverse operating systems on IBM z Systems in a single footprint. Virtual machines emulate hardware and allow multiple users to use the same hardware components. These z/VM virtual servers can run Linux, z/OS, and more. The advent of Linux running on IBM mainframes has created a new awareness and new demand for the IBM virtualization operating system. IBM z/VM contains features that support a level of security for users and resources. It allows the use of external security managers such as IBM RACF, CA-ACF2, and CA-TSS, as well as Computer Associate (CA) VM:Secure, which can provide additional levels of security and tools to manage it.
