Checklist Summary:

The ESX Server Checklist document is composed of four sections. The organizational breakdown is as follows: Section 1 ESX Server Review Process Discusses the checklist organization, requirements, data collection, SRR data entry procedures, and appendices. Section 2 ESX Server Checklist Contains all the Non-Computing and Computing checks for the ESX Server. Section 3 VirtualCenter Checklist Contains all the Computing Checks for the VirtualCenter Server. Section 4 VMware Virtual Machine Checklist Contains all the Computing Checks for all Guest Operating Systems. (UNIX or Windows) Management of the VMware Infrastructure is typically performed by several users performing different roles. The roles assumed by administrators are the Virtualization Server Administrator, Virtual Machine Administrator, and Guest Administrator. VMware Infrastructure users may have different roles and responsibilities; however, some functional overlap may occur. The ESX Server Checklist is formatted around Non-Computing and Computing requirements to better facilitate the use of the document and provide easy access to specific information. The roles assumed by administrators have been configured in VMS and are defined to provide role responsibilities.
