Checklist Summary:
The Samsung Android 15 BYOAD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) provides the technical security policies, requirements, and implementation details for applying security concepts to personally owned Samsung devices running Android 15 that process, store, or transmit unclassified data marked as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or below. The STIG is based on the Protection Profile for Mobile Device Fundamentals (MDFPP) version 3.3 (BYOD use case); DOD Memorandum “Use of Non-Government Owned Mobile Devices, August 10, 2022; and NIST Special Publication 1800-22 “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).” The scope of this STIG covers only the Bring Your Owned Approved Device (BYOAD) use case. The items addressed in the STIG are not specific to a Samsung Android hardware model; rather, they are tied to the version of the operating system running on any Samsung phone capable of running Android 15. This STIG assumes that the technology used for data separation between work apps and data and personal apps and data that has been certified by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) is compliant with the data separation requirements of the MDFPP1.

Disclaimer:
The existence of a STIG does not equate to DOD approval for the procurement or use of a product. STIGs provide configurable operational security guidance for products being used by the DOD. STIGs, along with vendor confidential documentation, also provide a basis for assessing compliance with cybersecurity controls/control enhancements, which supports system assessment and authorization (A&A) under the DOD Risk Management Framework (RMF). Department of Defense AOs may request available vendor confidential documentation for a product that has a STIG for product evaluation and RMF purposes from disa.stig_spt@mail.mil. This documentation is not published for general access to protect the vendor’s proprietary information
