Checklist Summary:

This document, Security Configuration Benchmark for Apple iOS 6, provides prescriptive guidance for establishing a secure configuration posture for the Apple iOS version 6.0.1. This guide was tested against the Apple iOS 6.0.1 and the iPhone Configuration Utility (iPCU) v3.6.1.296. This benchmark covers the Apple iOS 6.0.1 and all hardware devices on which this iOS is supported. As of the publication of this guidance, mobile devices supported by iOS 6.0.1 include the following: iPhone 5 iPhone 4S iPhone 4 iPhone 3GS New iPad iPad Mini iPad 2 iPod Touch (5th Generation) iPod Touch (4th Generation) In determining recommendations, the current guidance treats all iOS mobile device platforms as having the same use cases and risk/threat scenarios. In all but a very few cases, configuration steps, default settings, and benchmark recommended settings are identical regardless of hardware platform; for the few cases where variation exists, the benchmark notes the difference within the respective section.
